Some cable entries fail because the seal is asked to do too much. If the cable is pulled, vibrated or moved during service, the gland must provide strain relief as well as environmental sealing.
Where strain relief is needed
Moving machinery, portable equipment, pumps, control panels and field-installed devices can place pulling force on the cable. A strain relief gland helps reduce movement at the sealing point.
Seal and grip must work together
The sealing insert keeps water and dust out, while the clamping structure holds the cable jacket. If the cable OD is wrong, both sealing and strain relief become weaker.
Check bending and pulling direction
Installers should avoid sharp bends immediately after the gland. Cable routing support can help reduce stress on the entry point and extend service life.
Selection data
Send cable OD, cable type, movement condition, vibration level, thread size and installation environment. This helps decide whether standard, long thread or strain relief style is more suitable.
